A Dutch photographer (played by David Verbeek himself - also a photographer in a real life) makes a photo of a girl playing with her kite in a parking lot in nightly Taipei. The photo takes us into the life of the girl. She is eight years old and is about to lose her best friend; a boy from a richer family that is moving to America soon. Back in the Netherlands, the photographer is confronted with his own constant state of loneliness. The photo of the girl reminds him of his own childhood when he still felt at home somewhere.
The camera work of Morgan Knibbe ( Those Who Feel the Fire Burning , 2014) summarizes the mysterious, solitary atmosphere of the photographs the photographer made in nocturnal Taipei. A meditative film about moving and still images, about the time that makes the difference between the two, and about the relationship between maker and subject.
Nominated for the VPRO Big Screen Award.
